Chestnut Class - Miss Thompson

A warm welcome to Chestnut Class!

Year 2 is a very busy year and we will be having lots of fun along the way whilst always following our school values; Respect, Hardworking, Caring, Creative and Honest.  Here on our class webpage you can find out what we will be learning this year and ways to help us at home.

Miss Thompson is the class teacher with Mrs Starling teaching the class on Tuesdays and Thursday afternoons. Mrs Richards, Mrs Jerath, Mrs McGrath and Mrs Saravanabaven are our wonderful Learning Support Assistants.
 

A Typical Day in Year 2

8.40-9.05am: Handwriting practice or quiet reading

9.05-9.30am: Phonics

9.30-9.45am: Whole school assembly

9.45-10.45am: English

10.45-11am: Break

11-12pm: Maths

12-1pm: Lunch

1-3pm: The afternoon lessons include the following subjects; Science, Computing, Humanities, Art, Design and Technology, Music, PE, PSHE and RE.

Our P.E. lessons are on Mondays and Tuesdays.  Named PE kits should stay in school and will be sent back home at the end of each half term. Please be sure to remove earrings before school each day or cover with tape if they are newly pierced. We also have tape in school and, if we are concerned, we will cover earrings for P.E. lessons. 

On a Friday afternoon we visit the School Library; please remember to bring books back so they can be changed for a new one each week.

Every Friday we take home spellings to learn ready for our weekly spelling test the following Friday. We also bring home a White Rose Home Learning maths worksheet on Friday to be completed and to let you know what we have been learning in our lessons.  This worksheet can stay at home and does not need to be returned to school.  Every day we take home two reading books to share.  Please listen to us read as often as you can and sign and date our orange reading record.  We change our books every Monday and Wednesday. We need our reading folders to be returned to school every day, with our books and orange reading record inside, thank you.
