Willow Class - Miss Ridgley

Welcome to Willow Class!

Miss Ridgley is our class teacher and Mrs Maclennan, Mr Thorne and Mrs Postles are our Learning Support Assistants. On Thursday mornings Mrs Starling teaches us.

Our school day starts with morning activities such as mark making, fine motor and construction. We then have a Phonics lesson where we learn letter sounds that will help us to read and write. We follow the planning from Little Wandle Letters and Sounds.

Each morning there are small group sessions where we have our 'I'm a clever writer' lessons. In the Autumn term we focus on our prewriting skills and letter formation before writing words and captions in the Spring Term and sentences in the Summer Term. The classrooms and outdoor classrooms challenge us to learn a little more and we are encouraged to  find things out for ourselves!

In the afternoons, we have our Maths lessons and then continue to explore and expand our knowledge through play. We finish every day with a story, poems, songs or music.

In Autumn 1 we have PE on a Tuesday and in Autumn 2 it is on a Thursday. Wednesday mornings are for Forest School and on Fridays we finish our week with Curiosity Hour, where we explore and answer questions that we have asked.

Willow class days are full of learning, exploring, investigating, discovering and communicating in fun and exciting ways.  We respond to the children's interests, needs and what is happening in the world around them. Our teaching and learning is underpinned by the Early Years Foundation Stage - recognising every child is unique and that children develop in the context of relationships and the environment around them.

Thank you for visiting our class page! Please see tapestry for lots of lovely photographs of your children.
