Hello Year 2,

Did you have a good weekend? We hope that you had a rest and are ready for another week of exciting lessons.

This week in Phonics we are learning about the suffixes ing and ed.

In English we have planned lots of lovely work based on the book ‘The Owl Who Was Afraid Of The Dark’. Do any of you know the story? You will be writing a letter, a diary entry and even have the chance to add a new part to the story.

In Maths, we are continuing our topic about fractions. You will be recognising and finding thirds and three quarters and you will also learn about equivalent fractions. This week we have included lots of fraction games for you to play, look out for the details and password on the weekly plan.

In the afternoons you will be finding out about another amazing nurse called Edith Cavell who helped the soldiers during world war one. You will also learn about tropical rainforest and ocean habitats, make your own puppet using your design from last week and much more!

Don’t forget there are lots of links for fun PE ideas and optional daily well-being activities to complete if you would like to and you can also use RMEasimaths and Reading Eggs/Reading Eggspress to support your learning.

We know that it can be tricky learning at home and are so proud of how well you are all doing. Remember the plan is here as a guide, please don't worry if you can't complete it all. This week we would like you to ask your Mummy or Daddy if you can email your Wednesday English and Maths work to us. It is great for us to see how well you are all doing.
