Pirates Ahoy!

As Monday 18th June arrived, Oak Class came into school all ready for Pirate Week! Throughout the following days we created our own pirate character, planned and produced very detailed maps and then wrote a story.

The focus was to ensure that our story had the three features: beginning, middle and end. There were many parrots and treasure chests to be found! We are now using adjectives and conjunctions more freely and naturally in our writing. Some of us are using contractions and adverbs! How amazing for Year 1 children!

On Friday morning the corridors were so noisy as Oak Class pirates arrived! The ship of Captain Westy Beard was no place for a scallywag! Ms Cornes and the Mid day Supervisors tried to get in but we threw them out!

During the morning one of our Governors came to see what we were all up to and helped us to write a 'message in a bottle'!

We were so lucky to enjoy a visit from 'The Rainbow Theatre' Company who came to perform 'The Jolly Roger'. We would like to thank the PTA for financing this opportunity for Drama and role play.

This week has been amazing! Captain Westy Beard is exhausted  but so proud of all the Oak pirates...their work was brilliant throughout the entire week and the smiles on the scar and whisker faces were delightful!

Arghhhhh!
