Willow Class - Miss Thompson

Welcome to Willow Class!

In the mornings we start with fine motor activities, mark making or handwriting to settle ourselves into the day. After this we have our daily Phonics lessons where we learn how to read and write. These lessons follow the Little Wandle Letters and Sounds planning.

Twice a week we attend whole school assemblies where we listen to stories, learn to sing new songs and sometimes even have outside visitors who come and speak to us. On Friday's there is a celebration assembly where we have a look at everyone's achievements from the week.

We learn new things in our Literacy lessons every morning and have the opportunity to explore the inside and outside classrooms during free flow sessions. We also complete small group work with the teacher.

In the afternoons we have our daily Maths lessons and we are once again encouraged to explore the environment and learn new things independently. At the end of the day we read stories, sing songs or listen to poems.

On Tuesday afternoons we have P.E lessons and on Monday afternoons we have Forest School where we are able to explore the environmental area. On Friday's we have curiosity hour.

Our days in Willow are filled with learning in a playful, exciting way. We explore, discover, experiment, investigate and communicate. We respond to the children's interests, needs and what is happening in the world around them. Our teaching and learning is underpinned by the Early Years Foundation Stage - recognising every child is unique and that children develop in the context of relationships and the environment around them.

Thank you for visiting our class page! Please refer to Tapestry if you would like to see what we have been up to in class!
