Ourselves and Our Community Topic

What a busy week in RCH!  We have enjoyed learning about People Who Help Us and we went on our first school trip!

Throughout the week, we have been talking about our community and the people who help us in our village.  We have enjoyed learning about the jobs fire fighters, doctors and police officers do.  We have learnt about the people who help us in our school.

On Wednesday, PC Roland came to visit us.  He wore his uniform and we learnt about the different hats police officers have to wear.  It was fun to see the reflectors on PC Roland’s jacket go bright!  He told us about all the different jobs he does in the community and how he helps to keep us safe.  PC Roland showed us how he stops cars and how his Walkie Talkie works.
PC Roland read us a story and we learn some important information. We learnt how to keep safe if we ever get lost.  We enjoyed having PC Roland visit us.

On Thursday we walked to Chalfont St Peter Library, in the village.  We were excited as we saw lots of things along the way.  We spotted some apples in trees and met some friendly dogs!    When we arrived the librarians told us about the job that they do.  We listened to stories about starting school and one about visiting the dentist.  We learnt two fun songs and were able to choose some of the lovely books to look at.  The teachers, librarians and parents helped us to read the stories - it was a very fun time for everyone!

We are looking forward to a visit from a doctor on Friday and we have thought of some questions to ask! To finish this busy week, we have invited our parents and carers into class for a Stay and Play afternoon! We can’t wait to show off all of our hard work…….

We will post again after the half term, when we begin our topic Festivals and Celebrations.
