Beech Class - Mrs Edwards

Welcome to the class page for Beech Class, Year 2!

Mrs Edwards is our teacher; Mrs Noble is our Learning Support Assistant and Mrs Page is our Learning Support Assistant on Wednesdays.

We are an enthusiastic and hard working class who enjoy learning and having fun together!  We would like to tell you about some of the things we do in Year 2.

Every day starts with handwriting practice. We are proud we can join our letters together now and we make sure each letter is carefully formed. After that we have our daily Phonics lesson where we play fun games to help us learn to read and spell.  English is next during which we really enjoy listening to stories, poems and non-fiction texts. We then share our ideas and learn to write our own! After break time we have our Maths lesson followed by a well-earned lunch break!

In the afternoons we learn different subjects like Science, French, Computing, Music, History, Geography, Art, Design and Technology, RE and PE. We enjoy having parents and grandparents in to help us; we are such a busy class!

Our PE days are Wednesday for swimming and Monday for games/dance/gym. Please make sure all our kit and clothes are named as it makes it easier to match up to its owner if lost!

On Thursday afternoons we visit the library and choose a book to borrow for the week.

We bring our homework home on a Wednesday, which needs to be returned by the following Monday please. Spellings are sent home every Friday ready to be tested the next Friday morning. We also love to bring home our reading books to share with you every day.

We hope you come back to this page soon to find out about our achievements, view photos and discover the exciting things we have been learning along the way!

Our visit to St Peter's Parish Church to see the Remembrance poppy display and war memorial.

We have been learning about lighthouses and reading stories about a Lighthouse Keeper called Mr Grinling.

We are very proud of the lighthouses we made in our Design and Technology lessons!

We have had fun learning how to measure weight, length and capacity in our Maths lessons!
