Science Week

We did lots of brilliant experiments during our super Science Week!

At the beginning of the week we spent time with each teacher doing a different experiment ranging from optical illusions to paper aeroplanes – we had such a busy day learning all about the Science behind these great activities.

Some of our other experiments from the rest of the week included bobble blowers, catapults and chromatography – where we separated ink using coffee filters and water! We created tissue paper parachutes and loved watching our raisins dance in lemonade due to the gas bubbles in it. We enjoyed the tower challenge where we tried to see who could make the tallest tower using spaghetti and marshmallows – we found this very tricky but worked well in our teams to produce our best effort!

I think it is easy to say that our highlight of the week was our visit from the fantastic Safari Pete. We learnt lots about how each of his amazing animals is adapted to its habitat and got to see them in action. These included a snake, frog, scorpion, crocodile and pair of baby meerkats (we would now like these as a class pet!). Some of us were even lucky enough to hold his animals! How brave!

Have a look at the pictures from our fun-filled week below to see us as Scientists in action!
