3D Shapes!

During the week beginning 3rd October, Oak Class have been learning all about 3D shapes. Mrs West brought some shapes from around her house for us to see. The tin of beans was a cylinder. We all laughed at the toilet roll that was also a cylinder. Mrs West brought some cuboids which were cereal boxes and a box of tissues. There were a few spheres... one was a tomato!

On Tuesday 4th October, we began to learn all about the properties of 3D shapes. We used new vocabulary: edges, faces and vertices.

Mrs West gave us some straws and a little piece of clay; after that we created a cube. We could clearly see edges and the vertices. It was very tricky and some of our shapes fell apart but we kept trying and persevering. Take a look at our art straw cubes below!
