Gong Hey Fat Choy!

Happy Chinese New Year!

In the last week of January, class RCH celebrated the festival of Chinese New Year.  We learnt about the story of Chinese New Year – made masks of all the animals and acted it out.  Miss Hayward was very pleased with our drama skills!
We made a dragon head and some sparkly lanterns.  It was good fun and we learnt lots of new creative skills.  On Thursday, we tried some Chinese food. We tasted noodles, prawn crackers, beansprouts and soy sauce.  Our favourite was prawn crackers but only a few of us liked beansprouts!
On Friday, the day of celebrations in China, we learnt about dragon and lion dances. We looked carefully at the movements and then danced through the corridors, the hall and into every classroom!  We shook tambourines and shakers and the dragon lead the way.  It was great fun and all the children in the school loved our dragon head.
A wonderful week, with lots of fun and laughter!
