A warm welcome to Beech Class!
Our teacher is Mrs Edwards and you will find our classroom in room 6.
We are an enthusiastic and hard working class who enjoy learning and having fun together. We would like to tell you about some of the things we do in Year 2.
Every day starts with handwriting practice. We join our handwriting and make sure each letter is carefully led in from the line. After that we have our daily phonics lesson where we play fun games to help us learn to read and spell. English is next during which we enjoy listening to stories, poems and non-fiction texts. We share our thoughts and write our own interesting ideas. After break time we have our Maths lesson followed by a well-earned lunch break.
In the afternoons we learn different subjects like Science, French, Computing, Music, History, Geography, Art, Design and Technology, R.E and P.E. We are such a busy class!
A typical day in Year 2

9.15-9.30: Phonics (Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar)
9.30-9.45am: Whole school assembly
9.45-10.45am: English
10.45-11am: Break
11-12pm: Maths
12-1pm: Lunch

Our PE days are Wednesday (Swimming) and Tuesday (Games or Dance). Please make sure all our kit and clothes are named as it makes it easier to match up to its owner if lost!
On Monday afternoons we visit the Library; please remember to bring books back so they can be changed for a new one each week.
We have Homework every week; this will usually be English or Maths work relating to what we have been learning that week. Homework will be sent home on a Thursday to be returned the following Monday. Every Friday we take home spellings to learn ready for our weekly spelling test the following Friday. We also bring home our reading books to share with you every day.
We hope you come back to this page soon to find out about our achievements, view photos and discover the exciting things we have been learning along the way.
