Our first topic ‘Ourselves and Our Community’ was very interesting, as we learnt lots about each other and where we live. We began the term learning about ‘Ourselves’ – our bodies and our senses. We enjoyed learning about each other and all of our families too – it was great sharing and talking about our photos from home!
Towards the end of our topic, we learnt about People Who Help Us in our community. We went on our first trip to the library in the village. We had lots of fun with the librarians - singing, listening to a story about visiting the dentist and a story about starting school. Afterwards, we were allowed to look through all of the books! The teachers, librarians and helpers read stories to us. It was lots of fun!
The following week, PC Roland Lobo came to visit us. He talked to us in assembly about keeping safe near roads, when walking to school. Afterwards, he told us about his job and answered all of our questions. We learnt about where PC Roland works, how the sirens work on his vehicles and about his uniform. We then went outside and saw his Police van. It was great fun because he made the sirens and lights work. We were then allowed to go in the ‘cell’ at the back – it wasn’t very nice in there!
It has been a fun half term and we are now looking forward to the next topic ‘Festivals and Celebrations’. Have a fun half term everyone!
The librarians at Chalfont St Peter Library would appreciate your support! Please take a look at the website for information on opening times and facilities. Pop along to this well stocked and fantastic library!
