Mrs Whyte is the class teacher, Mrs Richards (MTW) and Mrs Postles (ThF) are the Learning Support Assistants.
Our school day starts with a Phonics session where we learn letter sounds that will help us to read and write. Phonics is fun! We like to learn rhymes and play games. We particularly like being 'Sound Detectives'.
Each morning there are small group sessions where we learn something new in Literacy and Mathematics. The classrooms, big room and outdoor area challenge us to learn a little more and we are encouraged to find things out for ourselves!
In the afternoons, we continue to explore and expand our knowledge through play. Every day we finish with a story, songs or music.
P.E. takes place on a Monday or a Friday morning as well as our afternoon session in the big playground where we work on our gross motor skills.
The Reception environment lets us explore and discover things for ourselves. We are free to move between both classrooms, the big room and the outside area. We also like to visit our school Environmental Area to explore and investigate! Reception also has some exciting trips and themed days which extend our learning outside the classroom.
Our days in Willow are filled with learning in a playful, exciting way. We explore, discover, experiment, investigate and communicate. We respond to the children's interests, needs and what is happening in the world around them. Our teaching and learning is underpinned by the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum - recognising every child is unique and that children develop in the context of relationships and the environment around them.
We hope you enjoy looking at the photos of us in Willow. Come and visit our class page again soon!
