Welcome to Pine Class
Miss Pitman is our class teacher, Mrs Richards and Mrs Postles are the Learning Support Assistants. On Tuesdays, Mrs Starling teaches us all day.
Our school day starts with a Phonics session where we learn letter sounds that will help us to read and write. Phonics is fun! We like to learn rhymes and play games. We particularly like being 'Sound Detectives'.
Each morning there are small group sessions where we learn something new in Literacy and Mathematics. The classrooms, big room and outdoor classroom challenge us to learn a little more and we are encouraged to find things out for ourselves!
In the afternoons, we continue to explore and expand our knowledge through play. Every day we finish with a story, songs or music.
Muddy Mondays and Forest Fridays
On alternate Mondays and Fridays we spend the morning in the Environmental Area. Here we have the opportunity to go on bug hunts, use the woodwork bench, make shelters and explore the area. In the afternoons we have our P.E session. Miss Pitman takes us in small groups to teach us skills and when it is not our turn, we can ride the bikes and use a range of equipment to build up our gross motor skills. Please can children wear P.E kit, tracksuit bottoms and trainers to school and bring wellies and waterproofs as we like to be outside in all weathers! Please check the board outside the Year R gate to find out which day we are in the Environmental Area.
