Year 1 - 11.01.21

Hello Year 1!

Have you had a good weekend? We hope you are all well and that you are ready for another exciting week of lessons.

This week in English, we are continuing with our topic of 'Traditional Tales' and our book this week is 'Goldilocks and the Three Bears'. I am sure you have all heard about that cheeky Goldilocks who ate Baby Bear's porridge! We will be listening to the story and writing our own story.

In Maths we are learning about Place Value and using tens and ones. It is a bit tricky but we have already started learning about this concept last term so you will be ready to develop your knowledge and skills further.

This week we are pleased to tell you that you will start to learn all about a contrasting locality that is very different from Chalfont St Peter. We are going to learn all about the beautiful island of St. Lucia where it is so hot that bananas grow on very high trees!

We know that you are working very hard and this work is here as a guide for you. Don't worry if you can't complete it all. This week we would like you to ask your Mummy or Daddy if you can email your Tuesday Maths work and your Tuesday English work to us. We are very excited to see how well you are all doing.

Remember that you can also use:

  • Reading Eggs and Fast Phonics with your individual Login.
  • RmEasimaths with your individual Login.
  • Phonics Play with the free Login: jan 21 (User name) home (password)

Today and Thursday is Story Time. Search for the 'Rainbow' and you will find a link to a short story read by Mrs West and also a chapter story read by Mrs Bagley. These are for you to listen to if you would like.

If you need any help or you have any questions, we are here to help you...

Have a lovely week and take care,

Love from

Mrs West and Mrs Bagley
