Pizza Express Trip

On Thursday 26th April, RKS visited Pizza Express in Beaconsfield to learn how to make our own Pizzas. We were all very excited and lots of us had decided what toppings we were going to choose.

It was a short coach journey to Pizza Express, but to keep ourselves amuzed we played eye spy and sang a few songs. When we arrived at Pizza Express, the manager explained what was going to happen. We then had to wash our hands and collect a hat and an apron to wear. We all transformed into chefs and were ready to make pizza!

The management team worked on a table each and showed everyone step by step how to make their pizza. Firstly, we learnt how to make the pizza base. We had to use our finger tips to stretch the dough into the shape of a saucer, before passing it from one hand to the other to stretch the dough to the size of a plate. We had to be careful to ensure that we didn't drop the dough on the floor!

Next we were each given some tomato sauce to add. We had to shake out tin to move the sauce and cover our pizza base. We were then allowed to choose lots of different ingredients for the toppings. We were all very tired afterm working so hard to make our pizzas, so we had a little rest and some squash as a treat!

We were then invited by the management team to go and have a look in the kitchen. They told us about the oven and the special fridge inside the kitchen. We all saw our pizzas being cooked in the oven. They smelt delicious!

Finally, we had the chance to ask any questions, before boarding the coach and returning to school.

We all had a lovely time at Pizza Express and are now all junior 'pizzaiolos'. We would like to say a massive thank you to everyone at Pizza Express for making us feel so welcome and for teaching us how to make pizza.
