We enable our children to achieve their potential through high quality teaching and a robust and enriching curriculum, designed to meet the diverse needs of learners with varying abilities. We facilitate opportunities for all learners to thrive by the relationships we build with our pupils and the reasonable adjustments we provide. We celebrate diversity and recognize that every child brings unique strengths. Our Special Educational Needs and Disability provision aims to empower students, foster independence, and promote a positive learning experience.

What is SEND?
SEND refers to the additional support and accommodations provided to children who may face challenges in their learning due to various factors. These factors can include:
Cognition and Learning difficulties: Students with specific learning difficulties, such as dyslexia or dyscalculia.
Communication and Interaction Needs: Students who require speech, language and communication support.
Sensory and Physical needs: Students with a physical or sensory impairment.
Social, Emotional, and Mental Health Difficulties: Students who experience social and emotional difficulties.
Our Approach
At Chalfont St Peter Infant School we believe that every child deserves an equal opportunity to succeed. We support learners with special educational needs by providing:
Provision Maps: We create personalized Provision Maps for children with SEND. These plans outline specific targets, accommodations, resources and strategies to enhance their learning experience.
Inclusive Classrooms: Our teachers receive training in inclusive teaching practices. They differentiate instruction, adapt materials, and provide additional support to meet the diverse needs of all students.
Specialist Support: We access Specialist Support provided by Buckinghamshire Council and the NHS services provided through Oxfordshire Health. This includes Education Health Care Officers, Specialist Teachers, Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Physiotherapists, School Nurse Team, Social Workers, Paediatrics and CAMHs. They work closely with students, parents, and teachers to ensure effective support.
Collaboration: We involve parents, guardians, and external agencies in the SEND process. Regular communication ensures that everyone is informed and actively participates in the child’s progress.
If you have any questions or would like to discuss your child’s additional needs please contact Rebecca Ireland via the school office; 01753884279, office@chalfontstpeterinfantschool.co.uk
