Transition into Year R
At Chalfont St Peter Infant School, we are committed to ensuring that every child has the very best, happiest and smoothest start to their school life. We provide an exciting, safe and stimulating learning environment, with an emphasis on building strong relationships between pupils, parents and staff. Starting school is an exciting time for new experiences, making friends and learning lots of new and interesting things. Your child’s days will be filled with wonder, new experiences and opportunities for learning and growing.
Our Transition Timeline
- April- School Allocations Announced
- April/May- Year R teachers make contact with nursery settings to arrange visits with children and meetings with keyworkers- attended by both Year R teachers.
- June- Children and their parents/carers are invited to a Welcome Session (3.30-4.20pm). The children can explore the Year R environment and meet the class teachers.
- July- By the end of July children will find out which class they are in and who their Class Teacher is.
- End of July- Tapestry accounts set up and teachers share stories weekly over the summer.
- 1st Full week of Autumn Term (September)- Settling in week
- Monday+ Tuesday- Half the class in the morning, half the class in the afternoon
- Wednesday- Whole class in for the morning
- Thursday+ Friday- Whole class in until 1.30pm- children to stay for lunch
