School Council

Junior leaders

Each year all of the children in Year 2 are given the opportunity to apply for a position as a Junior Leader and assist in important duties about the school. To apply they have to write a letter of application to the Headteacher stating which role they would like and why they thought they would be good at the job. The applications are then reviewed by the Headteacher and Year 2 staff and responsibilities and badges shared. then the hard work and the fun begins, as each group works with a member of staff to plan for the year and to undertake both regular and special tasks within their specialist areas. This brings the children great pride and teaches them the importance of responsibility, punctuality and commitment, as well as upholding all our school values.

School Council

The School Council at Chalfont St Peter Infant School encourages the pupil voice with regard to the running of their own school. In this way, our children have a greater sense of belonging, become more confident when putting forward ideas and develop a greater understanding of the need to work co-operatively for the benefit of all. They also undertake several charity events during the course of the year. Children who stand for School Council have to tell their classmates why they would be good and their friends vote them in.

Remembrance Parade

Some of the school council were honoured to take part in the Chalfont St Peter Remembrance Parade. We lay the wreath from our school on the war memorial as part of the service. The whole school has been learning about the importance of Remembrance Day and why we should all wear a poppy with pride. As a whole school community we have sold poppies as part of the poppy appeal and all took part in the two minute silence.

Children in Need

This year in order to raise money for Children in Need our School Council decided to organise a book sale! The children were asked to bring in donations and then had the opportunity to come and purchase some new books. We managed to raise over £100 for a fantastic cause!

World Book Day 2023

Our wonderful School Council organised a book swap this year for World Book Day. They asked all of the children in their class to bring in a book that they no longer read in exchange for a new one. They spent the morning organising all of the books in the kitchen and gave every child in their class a book token in order to redeem a new book. The swap was a massive success and every child in the school had the opportunity to read something new!
