Year 1 - 18.01.21

Hello again Year 1!

We hope you have had a good weekend and that you have had some fun playing! We hope you are all happy and that you are excited for the week ahead. 

This week in English, we are continuing with our topic of 'Traditional Tales' and our book this week is 'Little Red Riding Hood'. I am sure you have also heard of this story. So far, our stories have had a bit of a cheeky character and this tale is no exception! Do you know who we have to watch out for this week? Yes, it's the Wolf! We will be thinking about the characters in the story and developing our skills of using adjectives and conjunctions.

In Maths we are learning all about 2D and 3D shapes. We have already learnt the names of many shapes but maybe you could have a look around your home to see if you can identify any shapes. We'll give you a clue... there might be a cylinder in the bathroom!

This week we are going to begin our Science focus for 'Living and Growing'. You will also be learning about why bees are so important to us.

We know that you are working very hard and as we always say, this work is here as a guide for you. Don't worry if you can't complete it all. This week we would like you to ask your Mummy or Daddy if you can email your Tuesday Maths work and your Tuesday English work to us. We were so happy to see your stories last week and you were all very whizzy with Place Value Maths!

Don't forget to watch the Story Time stories and this week there is a story in French! Search for the 'Rainbow' and you will find a link to the short story read by Mrs West and also the chapter story read by Mrs Bagley. These are for you to listen to if you would like.
