As part of our topic “People Who Help Us” the Reception children have been learning about the Fire brigade and how they help us. We were very fortunate to have the local Gerrards Cross Firemen come into school with their fire engine to tell us more about their job and fire safety. The children got to look at some of the equipment aboard the fire engine and learn what it is used for. They also had the chance to sit inside the fire engine and as a special treat we all had a turn at squirting the water out of the big fire hose. The children laughed when the fireman dressed Mrs Bagley in their special fire protective clothes to demonstrate how they work.
