Chestnut Class - Mrs Chambers

A warm welcome to Chestnut Class!

On our class webpage you can find out about our achievements, view photos and discover the exciting things we have been learning about and experiencing. Year 2 is a very busy year but we will be having lots of fun along the way!

Mrs Chambers and Mrs Bajwa are the class teachers; Mrs Chambers works on a Monday, Thursday and Friday and Mrs Bajwa on a Tuesday and Wednesday. Mrs Swatman is our Learning Support Assistant and Mrs Whyte teaches the class on a Monday afternoon.

A typical day in year 2

9-9.10am: Quiet handwriting practice

9.15-9.30: Phonics (Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar)

9.30-9.45am: Whole school assembly

9.45-10.45am: English

10.45-11am: Break

11-12pm: Maths

12-1pm: Lunch

1-3pm: The afternoon lessons are the foundation subjects including

Science, Computing, Humanities and Art and Design.

Our P.E. lessons are on Wednesday and Thursday so please ensure named PE kits are in school on these days.

On a Tuesday afternoon we visit the Library; please remember to bring books back so they can be changed for a new one each week.

Every Friday we take home spellings to learn ready for our weekly spelling test the following Friday. We have homework every week, this will usually be English or Maths work often relating to what we have been learning that week. Homework will be sent home on a Thursday to be returned the following Monday.
