Dear Parents,
Welcome to the class pages for 1AK. Please visit our page to learn all about all the exciting things that we are learning in Year 1! We are a very hard working class and we are enjoying all the experiences that the school day brings.
We are very lucky to have Mrs Jones, who is a Higher Level Teaching Assistant, to help us. We also receive extra help from parents during Food Technology lessons and on school trips or walks to the village.
We are very enthusiastic during PE lessons which take place on Tuesdays (Dance) and Thursdays (Games). We love friendly competition and always try hard to demonstrate good sportsmanship. On Thursday afternoons we learn French where we are working on the pronunciation for a developing accent.
On Friday mornings, we learn in the Cocoa Pod! We are trying hard with animation, word processing and Art in Computing. If we work hard throughout the whole week, we are rewarded with Golden Time. This is our favourite part of the week where we get to choose our activites. Sometimes we play with construction bricks like Lego or Mobilo. Often we like to choose Junk Modelling where we practise our design and making skills! Sometimes, we simply wish to talk to our friends while we draw and colour independently.
Show and Tell also takes place on Fridays. We bring things from home to 'Show and Tell' our friends about; we try to bring interesting things rather than toys!
We start each day with Phonics, followed by Literacy and Numeracy. We are learning to write using accurate punctuation, adjectives, connectives and finger spaces. As we learnt to write using cursive script in Year R, some of us are now joining our handwriting!
On 19th September 2013, we will be visiting Milestones Museum of Living History. We hope to see many old 'Houses and Homes' and dress up in Victorian costume.
Keep watching our pages to find out all about 1AK!
