  • Shortenills 2019 - Chestnut Class

    Wed 19 Jun 2019

Hooray! It's Shortenills time for Chestnut Class! We arrived this morning and we were so excited as we went into our dorms to make our beds!

We had a lesson in the classroom and had a chance to see all the animals around the room. Then we had a snack before heading off into the meadow...The weather was quite fine and warm and we found lots of grasshoppers in the long grass.

We changed out of our wellies into trainers and then played with all our friends on the adventure playground... Everyone was so hungry for lunch after climbing, swinging and balancing!

We had a sandwich lunch followed by jam sponge cake. Guess what? Someone lost a tooth...we really hope that there are a few fairies at Shortenills! Then we all went orienteering. We used our maps to find clues and we dodged the rain drops as we ran!

We then had a little time in the dorm to write letters home... Miss Pitman has been to see us and she has brought them all back to school. They can be collected from the school office tomorrow (Thursday) morning...

In the evening we enjoyed a lovely dinner and looked forward to our evening activities.

We are so happy to be at Shortenills with our friends and we hope for a little sunshine in the morning....! Take a look at our photos...

  • Shortenills 2019 - Beech Class

    Wed 12 Jun 2019

At last the day has arrived for Beech Class to visit Shortenills Environment Study Centre for our annual Residential Trip! There was great excitement this morning...but we were very patient as we waited to get into the dorm!

The weather is sooo rainy but we don't mind at all! We are with all our friends and we have had great fun on our first day.

We had a sandwich lunch followed by chocolate crispy cakes. Then we all went orienteering. We were rather good at reading our maps! After that, we spent a little time in the classroom where we completed an investigation.

We then had a little time in the dorm to write letters home... Mrs West has been to see us and she has brought them all back to school. They can be collected from the school office on Thursday morning...

In the evening we enjoyed a lovely dinner of jacket potatoes or lasagne and jam sponge. We were all hungry!

After dinner we went to the Yurt to have an indoor camp fire - well a fired stove! The rain did not stop us at all! We sang songs and rhymes; told riddles and laughed!

We are so happy to be at Shortenills with our friends....! Take a look at our photos...
