  • Aviva Community Fund

    Mon 23 Oct 2017

As you know we continue to strive to raise money for a new Dining Room. We are so close but we are still short of approximately £25,000. With this in mind, we have entered into the ‘Aviva Community Fund’ annual competition.

All over the country, local communities are trying to improve lives through community projects. The Aviva Community Fund endeavours to help communities make a big difference through small changes.  Funding is now available for specific projects and with your help, we are hoping that our Dining Room project may be successful in gaining enough votes to finally gain the last monies to actually start building.

We will need to promote our project to as many friends, family, neighbours and members of the local community as possible. The projects with the most votes will become finalists and judged before the winners are announced. In order to get as many votes as possible to make it through to the finals, the children of the School Council have made a video in order to help make our project entry stand out in an appealing and meaningful way.

We would be so grateful if you would help us by registering on the Aviva website: click here   When you register, you will be given 10 votes which would be so valuable to us. If we could all ask 10 people from friends and family that would be another 100 votes per person! The voting closes in 23 days so we haven't got long!

I am sure you will agree, that this is an exciting opportunity and as the saying goes, ‘you have to be in it to win it’!

Fingers crossed we make it to the final...!

  • Harvest Festival

    Thu 19 Oct 2017

On Thursday 19th October, the entire school walked to St Peter's Church in the village of Chalfont St Peter. We were all so excited as this was the very first time we have held our Harvest Festival in church.

Over many years, we have enjoyed many Harvest Festivals in school but there is not very much space in our hall so this time we could invite all the parents to join us! What a beautiful service it was...

The voices of 180 children rang out through the rooftops of St Peter's Church. The soloists sang with confidence and our Year 2 children spoke with clarity.

We were very pleased to welcome a representative from Padstones Residential Home for young and vulnerable teenagers. Thank you to everyone who donated so generously to this very worthy cause.

Please see our singing videos on the website section: Children then School Videos.

Thank you for joining us and thank you to all the parents who walked us safely to the church. We hope you enjoyed this special occasion.

  • The Owl Experience

    Thu 05 Oct 2017

Following a week of reading the inspirational book 'Owl Babies' by Martin Waddell, Year 1 children welcomed Mr Bob Morley to our school. Mr Morley brought three owls with him! Spike, Gizmo and Archie were wonderful real live owls who enjoyed a very nice flight around our School Hall!

The children took turns to place their hands in a large, leather glove helped by Mrs West and Miss Forsythe. Mr Morley called the owls and they flew to our hands! It was a magical experience!

After the flight, the children were invited to participate in an observational drawing lesson where everyone tried their very best to draw the detail of the feathers and the heart shaped face of Archie.

This was an amazing experience and one which the Year 1 children will remember forever. Many thanks to the PTA for funding this wonderful opportunity.

Please see the Oak and Elm class pages for photos.
