  • Feast of St Peter

    Sat 23 Jun 2018

On Saturday 23rd June, the sun shone over Gold Hill Common as the village Chalfont St Peter celebrated Feast Day 2018!

Throughout the Summer Term, both the KS1 Choir and Year R Choir have been working hard to prepare for this day. The children arrived proudly wearing our school uniform ready to sing to the people of the local community.

We climbed the steps to the stage ready to lift our voices to the roof tops! Thank you to all the parents who brought us to Feast Day and to everyone who watched and encouraged us...

Take a look at our video clips on under 'Children' and then 'School Videos'. I am sure you will agree, we are so enthusiastic and demonstrate an incredible love of singing.

Mrs West and Miss Pitman are so very proud of the entire Choir. They are a credit to our school and their parents.

  • Ahoy Year 1 Pirates!

    Fri 22 Jun 2018

On Friday 22nd June, our school was 'awash' with pesky pirates! Year 1 children dressed for the final day of Pirate Week ready for a 'Treasure Hunt' and a walk on the plank!

During the morning, we welcomed The Rainbow Theatre group for a workshop performance of 'The Jolly Roger'. We would like to say a very big thank you to the PTA for financing this treat.

We had a wonderful day and our English work this week was exceptional as we were inspired by this exciting theme.

Thank you to all the parents for helping our Year 1 children to find a costume for the day...the smiling, excited faces were priceless!

Take a look at some of our photos below. There are more on the Class Pages...

  • Shortenills - Beech Class

    Mon 18 Jun 2018

Hello everyone from Shortenills! At last the day has come for Beech Class to visit Shortenills! The children arrived and happily made their beds! It was so exciting!

Everyone was quickly very busy and the activity of Orienteering saw everyone joining in and trying to understand how to follow a map...

A hearty lunch and tea of pizza and potato wedges was very tasty!

This evening the children spent time on the adventure playground and then onto the meadow for time in the camp fire log circle.

It was so lovely to see all the children playing in the trees and running and jumping in fields...

Please see the photos below and also on Beech Class pages...

  • A message from the Chair of Governors - School Budget - Bucks Free Press

    Thu 14 Jun 2018

School Budget  - Bucks Free Press– Setting the Record Straight

Those parents and carers who read the Bucks Free Press will have seen an article published on 13 June about some South Bucks schools underspending their budgets and questioning why this money is not being ploughed into their children's education.  Our School was mentioned specifically with the article quoting an underspend of £161,566.

One of our core functions as Governors is to oversee the financial performance of the School and to make sure its money is well spent. We do this rigorously and the School reports to and is closely monitored by BCC on a termly basis. The “budget surplus” the article refers to is money that the School has saved over many years for the extension, for the most part, from its devolved formula capital grant; this money can only be spent on capital items such as refurbishment, buildings and improvements to buildings (in our case the extension) – it cannot be used for the “children's education” (books, equipment, teachers etc) as the article erroneously suggests.

In order to build the extension the School has been supported by parents, staff, former parents and the wider local community with all the tremendous fundraising activities and donations. As a result the article has caused embarrassment to the School and the Governors who feel that it is extremely misleading and damaging. We will be looking to set the record straight with the wider community as soon as possible. If any parent or carer would like more information then please do get in touch with me via the School office.

    Thank you very much

  • Shortenills - Chestnut Class

    Mon 11 Jun 2018

At last the day has come for Chestnut Class to visit Shortenills Environmental Study Centre! We started the day by making our beds! Then we explored the site and went Orienteering! We had to work out how to find things by using the map and a compass!

We were so hungry and we all kept asking when it was lunch time! We were so happy to find pizza and wedges waiting for us and lots of us had seconds!

We loved the campfire and singing!

We have enjoyed learning in the yurt and spending a little time in our dorrms. We can't wait for more fun tomorrow!

Take a look at our photos below and you will also find more photos on Chestnut Class page...

Letters home will be in the office in the morning via Mrs West mail!

  • Science Week!

    Tue 05 Jun 2018

As we came back to school after a lovely half-term break, we were all very excited for Science Week. This was started off by a brilliant assembly where we watched enormous bubbles and exploding custard!

The excitement was heard by all the children as the 'fire' nearly went up to the ceiling! The bubbles were so huge and even Mrs Bagley managed to make one!

Take a look on the Class Pages for photos and on the school video page for the exploding custard!
