Our final fling of this busy half term was  a day to celebrate all things French! Dressed in red, white and blue the children played boules, attended a French cafe, learnt the French dance 'La Guimbarde' , and learnt some French and about the country. An inspiring day.

  • Team Sports Tournament

    Thu 25 May 2023

Over the past week every child has been working hard to win points for their team colour by competing in year group sports tournaments.  We enjoyed three fabulous, sunny days of competition including rugby relays, football goal scoring, cricket stump aiming and tennis ball balancing.  We were very proud of the children’s’ sporting achievements and their encouragement towards one and other. Here are a few comments from the children about their day; ‘It was lots of fun and I really enjoyed it!’, ‘The beanbag game was my favourite and the music helped me concentrate’, ‘ I liked shooting goals best because you even got 5 points if you hit the cross bar’, ‘I found some things tricky but it’s good because all your hard work pays off’.

A huge congratulations to all the children especially those in the Green Team who were the overall winners with an amazing 1996 points!

  • Fiona Castle taps her way into school

    Tue 23 May 2023

Last week, Year 1 children completed their History topic of 'Through the Keyhole' where they look into the lives of significant and famous individuals. This week they learnt about Roy Castle who lived locally to us. They were delighted to welcome Roy's wife, Fiona Castle, to come and talk to us about him. She even brought Roy's trumpet and the children and staff were so amazed to be able to see it and touch it!

After the talk, they followed in Roy's footsteps as all Year 1 children and staff danced a tap dance for 10 minutes to raise money for 52lives. Fiona joined in and they were amazed to raise £70. Thank you, Fiona, for joining us and also to all parents who helped the children to donate and participate for this worthy cause.

  • Introducing Bronte, our therapy dog.

    Mon 22 May 2023

Bronte and her owner, Tracey, were welcomed with open arms ( literally) on Monday as Bronte was proudly introduced to each class in turn. She then spent some time with children reading as day one of her 'Pets as Therapy' programme with us. We are so pleased to have been chosen to host Bronte and are sure she will bring much joy and calm to the children of our school.

  • Kindness Workshop

    Tue 16 May 2023

Today we were visited by Greig Trout , one of the founders of the charity 52 Lives. He came to school to deliver a Kindness Workshop and he had a huge impact on the children and adults alike. He taught us about the Science of Kindness ( did you know being kind can help you live longer? ) and he worked with each class to write or make something as an act of kindness for each other. Greig's stories were remarkble and he was an inspiration to us all.

  • International Coronation Day

    Fri 05 May 2023

We were all very excited for the Coronation of King Charles 111, and to celebrate we dressed as the royal guests at the service, coming from countries all over the world. I was wonderful to see the children in their national clothes and dressed so smartly for the occasion. We had a street party in the hall . enjoyed a maypole demonstration and sang our Song to The King as well as The National Anthem. What a fabulous day!
